SM Hotels Supports the Philippine Red Cross

SM Hotels supports the Philippine Red Cross (PRC) in its efforts of setting up isolation facilities in the National Capital Region to help mitigate the spread of COVID-19.  Various properties under SM Hotels donated over 5,000 various linens, which PRC utilized in the said facilities.

“As one of the key players in the tourism industry, SM Hotels is honored to take part in this worthy endeavor. With the increase of the number of people affected by COVID-19, this initiative will surely help alleviate the shortage of facilities for Covid patients.  Philippine Red Cross continues to be a key stakeholder in supporting the government’s drive to curtail the spread of the virus with the realization of these facilities and we are more than happy to be one of its partners in this initiative,” said Ms. Peggy E. Angeles, SM Hotels and Conventions Corp. (SMHCC) Executive Vice President.

According to PRC Chairman and CEO Senator Richard J. Gordon, PRC’s isolation facilities have so far served 253 asymptomatic COVID-19 patients to date.

Apart from supporting the Philippine Red Cross, a number of its hotels served as quarantine hotels during the early part of the pandemic, housing OFWs and returning Filipinos. Some still currently continue to take in guests on quarantine up until the present.

As it continues to serve its guests, SM Hotels and Conventions Corp. does not leave any stone unturned when it comes to safety through its SustainablySafe Program which includes intensive and holistic sets of policies, following efficient and methodical procedures in its daily operations. The program is a reflection of SMHCC’s ideals that drive the company to remain dedicated, grateful, and mindful.
